Australia (Perth) Wins Bid to Hold ICC 2011 Conference
The 17th ICC conference is currently being held in Las Vegas. The WA branch with support from the Perth Convention Bureau submitted a bid to hold the 18th ICC conference in 2011, in Perth.
The ACA has previously held two successful ICC conferences, with the last one being in Melbourne in 1996. There were 4 countries bidding for the 2011 conference, these being Australia, Colombia, Hungary and Indonesia. Following the voting by the ICC Council, the submission from Australia (Perth) was successful in securing this conference!
The voting in all it’s rounds was very close, with Perth just scraping through ahead of Hungary.
Thanks to John Grapiglia’s effort in flying to Las Vegas and putting together the presentation and speech and networking with delegates in Vegas to win their votes. Thanks are also due to John’s employer, IONIK, for allowing him the time to attend the Las Vegas conference.
The ACA would like to extend its gratitude to the support from the Perth Tourism Bureau for their support and in particular to Gareth Martin of the Bureau.
