NZDIA (The New Zealand Defence Industry Association Inc) has made a generous offer to enable Corrosion Association Members to attend their Annual Forum, at a preferential member rate, in recognition of our common aims supporting industry.

The Forum is a great opportunity to engage with people who contribute to the defence, security and wellbeing of New Zealand, as well as Australia.

NZDIA’s Annual Forum is in four weeks’ time and now is the time to decide to attend. The theme for this year’s forum is ‘exploring the role of industry in national and regional security’. This means greater opportunities to engage with more agencies and offer cross agency solutions.

With the NZ government’s recent decisions to invest in Defence capability, as well as the publication of the NZ Strategic Defence Policy Statement 2018, now is an opportune time to be more involved in discussions with Defence, National Security Agencies and industry in New Zealand.

WHAT TO EXPECT AT THE FORUM

This year, for the first time, the Ministry of Defence is running two sessions as part of its Industry Engagement Commitments, at the Forum.

Of great interest to the Maritime sector is the Ocean Patrol Vessel Project (OcPV) Information Session. The session description is:

In this session we introduce the new Ocean Patrol Vessel project and share some of our initial learnings relating to the Southern Ocean and Antarctic.  The presentation outlines the complexities and challenges facing the project given the vessel must capable of fulfilling its seakeeping role as well as operating in an environment where sea ice is present. Presenters include LT CDR Jono Clarkson RNZN who will provide context around the potential Antarctic naval patrol operations and Ms Sally Garrett from the Defence Technology Agency who will discuss the environmental factors that need to be considered.

The second session is around Air. Details of the Air Capability workshop are on the Forum website (see log in details below). A request for Participation has gone up on NZ’s GETS website, RFx ID: 20235797. To save you hunting, the Notice of Request for participation is attached along with the session description.
In addition to all the exhibitors and approximately 200 Defence staff, we have an exciting programme in store, covering a range of Defence and National Security topics. An outline of timings is available before registration and the full agenda is available on the Forum website for delegate review after registration.

Further sessions of interest to Corrosion experts include (but are not limited to):

·      Maritime Domain update from MoD and NZDF

·      Capability update from MoD and NZDF
