Event Summary

CPD hours: 4.0

Join us for a behind-the-scenes tour of the Curtin Corrosion Centre, hosted by the Engineers Australia WA Mechanical College in collaboration with the Australian Corrosion Association.

The Centre is dedicated to addressing complex corrosion challenges across the energy, resources, and infrastructure sectors.

Participants will explore state-of-the-art laboratories conducting research on topics including mechanically assisted corrosion, microbiologically influenced corrosion, corrosion under insulation, and acid gas and atmospheric corrosion.

Key labs include:

  • Main Laboratory – Core corrosion science research
  • EXTREME Lab – High-pressure, high-temperature testing in CO₂, H₂S, and hydrogen environments
  • MIC Laboratory – Microbial corrosion research combining microbiology and electrochemistry
  •  SEA Lab – Atmospheric and marine exposure testing
  • EAC & CUI Labs – Focused on environmentally assisted cracking and insulation-related corrosion

This is a rare opportunity to experience hands-on demonstrations and connect with researchers working on real-world corrosion mitigation solutions.
