Company: Laser Cleaning Technologies

What does your role entail and what does your company do?

My prime objective is to improve production by working with my professional network to combine and introduce global industry best practice. When we get it right we’ve created a process that is safer, smarter and generally easier for all stakeholders to use.

What has been your favorite corrosion project that you have worked on and why?

My favourite project is our current project because it’s working with a Laser Cleaning technology that has huge potential to deliver a significant step change for our industry. Laser Cleaning is currently producing outstanding results in several applications and is being widely considered in several more.

What are the important corrosion related issues facing industry/your business today?

It seems to me our industry, like many others has become increasingly regulated over the past 20 years. In my view we have rightly placed safety and the environment first however, there is often a direct commercial impact. The result has left much of the country’s critical infrastructure suffering. Our challenge then becomes two-fold. Firstly, we need to work smarter and actively seek and develop ways to improve operational safety, our environmental legacy and the quality of what we produce. Secondly, we must educate and promote on a much broader scale the universal impact of corrosion and the essential nature of designing full life cycle maintenance into the front end of everything we build.

Why are you a member of the ACA?

The ACA brings together both the technical and operational aspects of our industry. In my view the ACA is the best placed platform for all concerned with improving the corrosion industry to meet discuss ideas, identify opportunities and design and deliver fit for purpose education.
