The award honours the late Professor Brian Cherry of Monash University for his significant contribution to corrosion education, consulting and the Australasian Corrosion Association Inc. They are determined by a panel of academia judges as selected by the Victorian Branch of the ACA.
The Brian Cherry Awards Forum was created to honour the late Professor Brian Cherry of Monash University. Professor Cherry’s contributions to corrosion education, consulting, and the Australasian Corrosion Association drove the development of this award.
Nominations for the Brian Cherry Awards Forum open at the end of March each year. The nominations for the Awards close at the end of each September.
The Awards are judged over two events, both conducted via Zoom, an initial three-minute thesis event, and a subsequent final longer style presentation forum consisting of up to 4 winners selected from the prior three-minute thesis event. Generous cash prizes and complimentary registration to the ACA’s Corrosion and Prevention conference are on offer to the top 4 student presenters for the Brian Cherry Award Forum.
Taking part in the Brian Cherry Award Forum provides students with the opportunity to present their corrosion related research work as well as showcase their talent to their peers and the Australasian Corrosion Industry – including potential employers.
