Event Summary
The Newcastle Branch of the Australasian Corrosion Association (ACA) invite our members and those interested to attend our End of Year Christmas Function along with a technical presentation from Associate Professor Igor Chaves & Rhett Watters. Rhett shall elaborate on the application of his asset management expertise through various case studies and Igor will showcase selected past, present and future research projects supported by the Australian Research Council and various national and international partners.
About the Presenters
Rhett Watters – Rhett is a Chartered Structural Engineer with over 12 years experience, primarily in professional services. He provides specialist structural engineering services to clients in the transport, water, and energy and resources sectors. Rhett has led the growth of specialist consulting teams in professional services firms in both New South Wales and Queensland prior to forming Watt Asset Advisory.
Igor Chaves – Igor Chaves is a Chartered Materials Associate Professor at the University of Newcastle, Australia. He is a Civil Engineer, holds a Master of Science degree in structural engineering and has been awarded a PhD for his studies in corrosion analysis and prediction. Igor served as National President in 2021, and re-elected National Councillor for the Australasian Corrosion Association (ACA), position he has continuously held since 2014. He is also an associate editor for the American Society of Civil Engineers, and technical program advisor for the International Society of Offshore and Polar Engineering. Recently appointed Deputy Director (Research) for the Centre of Innovative Energy Technologies his applied research focus includes future commodity infrastructure durability and sustainability.
