In this presentation, Roger Costanzi discusses a tubular aluminium single column pantograph disconnecting arm from an 82kV disconnector, that was received for examination following failure adjacent to the weld joining the tubular arm to a clevis. Failure of the disconnector arm was a result of exfoliation corrosion arising from the formation of precipitates in the weld heat affected zone (HAZ) joining the extruded tubes to a cast aluminium alloy clevis.

For the initial corrosion behaviour of spheroidal graphite cast iron in atmospheric corrosion environment, it is quite different from that of carbon steel and weathering steel. This study focused on the initial corrosion behaviours affected by the graphite and Cu in the spheroidal graphite cast iron, the atmospheric exposure test and wet-dry cyclic test were conducted. This presentation from Ichiro Dote, was given at the 2021 Corrosion and Prevention Conference. Ichiro Dote has studied in the Department of Civil Engineering, at Kyushu University as a working doctor from 2018. Where his major field of study is atmospheric corrosion of cast iron. Wednesday evening June 24th saw over 60 corrosion enthusiasts gather to witness amazing footage captured by Chris and Allison Selman by whom have cleverly created a documentary called The Wreck Man. The story of Dr. Ian MacLeod, maritime archaeologist, and shipwreck conservator. In 2004 Dr Ian MacLeod was awarded the Corrosion Medal, a recognition bestowed by the ACA for his outstanding scientific and technical work in the field of corrosion in Australasia. Whilst in 2020 for his significant service to the museum and galleries sector Dr Ian was recognised with the medal of the Order of Australia.

This hybrid event will feature 8 guest presentations, headlined by Keynote Speaker Kevin Garrity, of Mears Integrity Solutions (USA), focusing on technologies such as materials selection, coatings and cathodic protection used to attain the desired design life of our assets will be discussed. Speakers will share their experience and those of others they have learned from, and include case studies in their presentations.
