2021 ACA President‘s Second Membership Address
Wednesday 1st September 2021
Dear Colleagues,
I write to draw your attention to some of the great initiatives currently taking place at our Association.
ACA Awards
Tasks that require a myriad of qualities including patience, dedication, intelligence, discipline, perseverance and courage are often, quite understandably, intimidating to many. Thus, it is paramount that we as an Association recognise such herculean efforts from some of our most dedicated colleagues.
Following from my recent letter to all branch Presidents, I would also like to encourage our wider membership to also nominate an outstanding colleague or corporate team to be recognised in praise for their contribution to our Association. Award nominations have now been extended until the 31st of October 2021, in line with the postponement of the Annual Conference, where they shall be presented. A list of the relevant award categories can be found by heading to the ACA Awards page from the website menu. For convenience, links to contact your local branch committee can be found here.
Membership Initiatives
In our efforts to build a strong community that supports and inspires the next generation of asset owners/managers, material suppliers, consultants, contractors, applicators, materials scientists, engineers, and anyone else with an interest in the field of corrosion, the ACA has recently announced two fantastic initiatives. The launching of 25 scholarships to support attendance at the Corrosion and Prevention Conference or participation in an ACA Training Course, valued collectively at over $50,000 and a special discounted offer for the first 100 new student members to join for a one time discounted fee of only a single blue swimmer (i.e. $10)!
Moreover, online ACA member profiles have been expanded to further tailor your networking and communication benefits, including an option to be added to your local branch contact list which will be shared with your local branch committee. Update your details by logging in to your ACA account at your earliest convenience to benefit from these improvements.
Member Resources
Professional development support towards National and International recognition is just one of the many benefits our ACA family shares. Apart from regular job listings, formal certification, an experienced community to engage with, the ACA composes, collects, and stores decades of information to assist your business and career. Including thousands of innovations, webinars, case studies, design achievements, remedial solutions, etc. published through the website and Corrosion & Prevention (C&P) Conference series. You can find shortcuts to a large number of these technical resources, by clicking here, or looking under the website’s resources menu.
Conference
As the largest corrosion conference and exhibition in the southern hemisphere, the annual ACA C&P Conference series in particular is a premium networking event, serving as a source for the latest information concerning corrosion mitigation. With a breadth of technical and social activities planned for a healthy mix of junior and senior, the four-day gathering of world experts on corrosion mitigation is sure to create unique opportunities to further expand our knowledge, find solutions to problems, present ideas and network our career or business to our wider community.
I look very much forward to meeting you all at the upcoming Corrosion and Prevention Conference in Newcastle.
Sincerely,
Igor Chaves
