Hello all ACA members and colleagues, we wish you well at the present, difficult times.
The COVID-19 pandemic is forcing us all to reappraise how we’re interacting with each other both professionally and personally. As of today, we wanted to update you on what is happening at the ACA.
As previously mentioned, we have postponed the holding of some of our courses and are moving other courses to an online format. The first of these events will be the postponed VIC branch AGM, taking place on Wednesday 15/04/2020. This event will also include two technical presentations, and we strongly encourage any interested ACA members to register online and join our webinar for the technical portion from 18:00 AEST.
We are using Zoom to host future branch events, meetings and trainings. Branches have been contacted about how to host meetings and a number of branches are trialling Zoom later this week the use of the Zoom platform will allow ACA branches to continue to engage with their members.
To assist our members we will be hosting some trial sessions for anyone who would like to familiarise themselves with the software. You can register your interest here.
We are regularly posting technical articles on our website that will be of interest to members. You can read our latest Brian Cherry Paper – Organic corrosion inhibitors – new build and existing structures performance by Jessi Meyer here.
We’ve also just shared a recording of Robert Francis’ fantastic P.F. Thompson memorial lecture from C&P2015, Understanding Galvanic Corrosion, for all of the broader ACA community here.
Pleasingly, we have had two new members join the ACA in recent days – both as Gold members – and many others are rejoining their annual membership.
The Board is meeting regularly to discuss the situation and the implications of COVID-19 on our organisation. We have introduced working from home arrangements for all staff. But importantly, the ACA can still be contacted on (03) 8608 7901 or via Email at anytime.
Many of you will have different circumstances from having to have closed the door temporarily, to limited trading to working from home etc. Wherever you are and whatever your circumstances, we wish you well and hope your road over the next few months, or whatever the time frame, is not too difficult and that you can keep your chin up and come out the other side. We will do all we can to help you in our small way.
Take care, be kind to others stay safe and stay positive.
