Congratulations to the winners of our RustyPics2021 Photo Contest: Daniel Lillas, Sanjay Choudhary, Muhammad Javed and Grand Prize winner Hoda Adelkhah and thanks for their fantastic submissions. Scott Wade, Peter Dove and Candice Blackney of the ACA VIC Branch recently spent some time to sit down and discuss each of our applicants in the RustyPics 2021 Photo Competition and officially announce the winners in the four categories of Marine, Pipeline, Concrete and Other Corrosion. Call for Nominations – Board of Directors 2021

The Australasian Corrosion Association is calling for nominations from our members to be elected to our board. Now is your opportunity to be involved at the highest level and lead your profession. The ACA Board requires a wide mix of skills and experience to satisfy its corporate responsibilities. If you feel that, you could make a valuable contribution or know a member of the ACA who you feel would make an excellent contribution, please consider a nomination.

Third Generation Polysiloxane Technology

The ACA's Oil and Gas Technical Group was thrilled to Host Peter Bock for a presentation on Third Generation Polysiloxane Technology. Third Generation Polysiloxane (TGPS) ambient curing CUI mitigation coatings have been used in the petrochemical and processing industries for over five years since the “third generation” concept was introduced at NACE Corrosion 2017. These coating technologies have demonstrated positive results in both shop and field application for asset management in elevated temperature, cryogenic and cyclic applications across -196 to 650o C/ (-321 to 1200o F)  operational temperatures. TGPS coatings have also demonstrated effective use of a two-step (primer-insulation) CUI mitigation coating approach operating up to  400o C/750o F, when compared to the traditional (CUI coating-fibrous insulation-cladding) systems.

RustyPics2021 Photo Competition

As rust-geeks one of our shared interests in life is taking a good old photo of corrosion. You know what I’m talking about, it’s when you’re on a holiday in Paris and you’re holding up your travel companions trying to assess and document the quality of the coating on the Eiffel tower. Or it’s when you can’t help but take a photo on that stroll along the beach where you notice someone has used galvanised bolts to hold down a stainless steel structure (who still does this?!). If this sounds like you, the ACA VIC Branch is excited to invite you to enter our RustyPics2021 Photo Competition! This is your chance to share your most prized corrosion photos. What will yours be? Is there a picture you’ve taken that springs to mind straight away? Rustle it up and submit now!

VALE: Andreas Michael Herbert Gabriel

It is with great sadness that we record the sudden passing of Andreas Gabriel on the 10th August 2021, at the age of 51. Andreas was an active member of The ACA over the years. He served ACA NZ Branch in several senior roles including Auckland Division Chairman (2008-2009) and NZ Branch President (2010-2013). Andreas was highly respected for his contributions to the corrosion control community throughout NZ. The ACA extends its deepest sympathies to the Gabriel family. We encourage anyone who is able to contribute to the givealittle campaign set up by Andreas's Colleagues at NZ Corrosion Services Ltd to assist Andreas's family during this time.
