RT Radiography for Detection of CUI

CUI can be extremely difficult to detect, with insulation and cladding often masking corrosion and traditional methods, such as visual inspection through the removal of cladding and insulation can be time-consuming. Often the true extent of corrosion is not realised until too late, incurring substantial costs and productivity losses for operators. Radiography offers a safe, timely and cost-effective solution for the detection of CUI. The Oil and Gas Technical group of the ACA were fortunate to be joined by John Forlani (KAEFER Integrated Services) who shared some of his expertise with this method with us and discussed some of the key benefits of RT Radiography.

The Importance of Concrete Surface Preparation

The third and final of the ACA and ACRA series of joint webinar presentations on Silicosis and its prevention. Adequate surface preparation is the key to successful concrete repair and concrete protection projects. Inadequate surface preparation often leads to the failure of the repair or coating necessitating further re-work, incurring added expense, facility operational downtime and compromised integrity of the remediation and protection works.

Evolution of Coatings for Protection against CUI

The ACA Oil & Gas Technical Group invited our first international guest speaker, Neil Wilds (Sherwin Williams) to kick off a series of webinars focused on the challenges of detecting and mitigating CUI. Corrosion under insulation (CUI) is one of the major problems faced by asset managers throughout the oil and gas industry. Neil will be delivering a presentation on the evolution of coatings for protection against CUI, then taking questions from our attendees.

ACA Applicators Technical Group 2020 Summary

The ACA Applicators Technical Group (ATG) was formed to represent the needs of specialist contractors in industries that serve the protection or restoration of corrosion affected structures throughout Australasia including New Zealand. These include companies and individuals in; concrete remediation and protection, applied concrete floor finishes, surface preparation and protective coating of steel and hazardous coating removal. The ATG, aligned with many other associations and technical groups, has been severely impacted by the restrictions imposed on our members with the cancellation of conferences, seminars and training courses. The ATG has proposed revised outcomes for 2020 and 2021 are as follows:
