2nd August 2020Hanieh is the Vice president OF ACA NZ Branch. Being a female, being an engineer, and being successful still looks impossible in some industries – and even in some countries....
2nd August 2020The third and final of the ACA and ACRA series of joint webinar presentations on Silicosis and its prevention. Adequate surface preparation is the key to successful concrete repair and concrete protection projects. Inadequate surface preparation often leads to the failure of the repair or coating necessitating further re-work, incurring added expense, facility operational downtime and compromised integrity of the remediation and protection works.
29th July 2020The VIC branch of the ACA and the Australian Institute for Non-Destructive Testing presented this webinar on Non-Destructive Testing given by Glen Haberl (AICIS Pty Ltd) (Prerecorded). The presentation consists of three parts. The first reviewing conventional Non-destructive testing (NDT) methods including Visual testing (VT), Magnetic Particle Testing (MT), Liquid Penetrant Testing (PT), Eddy current testing (ET), Ultrasonic testing (UT) and radiographic testing (RT).
29th July 2020In space, does corrosion sleep?
23rd July 2020The ACA would like to pay our thanks and offer our congratulations to Bruce Hinton, Mike Tan and Nick Birbilis, who have been successful in the production of a Special Edition (Vol 55, Issue 4, 2020) of the Corrosion Engineering Science & Technology (CES & T) Journal to celebrate the career of Professor Brian Cherry and his many contributions to corrosion engineering.
7th July 2020Rana is an active long time member of the ACA and an ACA Corrosion Technologist. She lives and works in Humpty Doo in the Northern Territory with her partner Paul Oldam; she is also extremely busy with multiple projects and two demanding toddlers.
5th July 2020With the publication of SNZ TS 3404 in 2018, its inclusion as an Acceptable Solution in the NZ Building Code in 2019, and the recent publication of the Engineering NZ B2(Durability) guidance; progress in providing design engineers with the technical guidance to design durable steel structures continues.
30th June 2020The second in a series of joint webinar presentations on Silicosis and its prevention, presented by ACRA and The ACA. The presentation gives the audience a view of how much dust normal operations of drilling, cutting and grinding concrete generate. It then covers the engineering controls available to manage dust emission and how you use these in conjunction with PPE to ensure operators/supervisors remain well below the required Silica dust levels.
28th June 2020The ACA Oil & Gas Technical Group invited our first international guest speaker, Neil Wilds (Sherwin Williams) to kick off a series of webinars focused on the challenges of detecting and mitigating CUI. Corrosion under insulation (CUI) is one of the major problems faced by asset managers throughout the oil and gas industry. Neil will be delivering a presentation on the evolution of coatings for protection against CUI, then taking questions from our attendees.
25th June 2020The ACA and ACRA present the first in a series of joint webinar presentations on Silicosis and its prevention. The world as we know it is constantly changing. In the construction industry, often competing pressures of safety, environment and productivity are at the forefront of an engineers mind. Our first webinar in this series will explore these themes in the context of demolition, containment and silicosis in the concrete repair industry.
17th June 2020In July 2019, the Australasian Corrosion Association held an international symposium, “Advances in Corrosion Science and Corrosion Engineering,” to celebrate the many contributions made to Australasian corrosion science and engineering by Bruce Hinton, Les Boulton, Brian Martin, Brian Kinsella, Greg Moore, and David Nicholas. Now, a selection of those keynote papers included in the Symposium Proceedings have been updated and amended for publication in a special issue of CORROSION, the Journal of Science and Engineering, by guest editors Bruce Hinton, Brian Kinsella and Symposium Committee Warren Green.
17th June 2020Thanks to the willingness of many ACA members to try their hand at presenting or moderating a webinar, or joining a virtual panel, we've now had over 600 registrations to join our webinars as we look to host our 10th online event next week. We want to take this opportunity to get some input from our members on how they're finding this new medium and where they'd like to see us go in the future. If you can spare five minutes to complete this survey, we would love to hear what you've got to say.
