Presenters
Rebecca Newby, NSW State Manager, BCRC
Rebecca is a Civil Engineer with 15 years of experience in durability/condition assessments for major projects worldwide (Australia, UK, Middle East).
Her primary expertise is in concrete durability modelling, non-destructive evaluation of structues and assessment of the remaining life of concrete structures.
She rejoined BCRC in Australia in 2023 after 4 years in the UK where she worked on durability assessments for large infrastructure projects such as High Speed 2, Thames Tideway and Hinkley.
Milad Aghili, Master Builders Solutions, National Technical Support – Construction System
Milad is a Construction Materials and testing Expert with over 10 years of international and Australian experience, with a career bridging advanced technical knowledge and hands-on industry practice.
In Australia, Milad has held key technical and engineering roles at Heidelberg Materials, where he supported major infrastructure projects; at Mahaffey Associates as a Construction Materials Engineer focusing on durability testing and advanced mix design; and as a Research Assistant at UNSW, contributing to low-carbon concrete research.
His expertise spans advanced concrete technology, concrete repair mortars and RMX grouts, durability, epoxy resin-based products, performance flooring, waterproofing, and concrete admixtures.
An active researcher and author, Milad has published in international journals and co-authored books on recycled aggregates and concrete durability. Holding a Ph.D. in Construction and Engineering Management, he combines strong academic research capability with deep practical industry insight across the ANZ region.
