Overview
The AMPP Coating Inspector Program – Level 1 (CIP1) course is an intensive presentation of the fundamental technology of coating application and inspection. It
provides both the technical and practical fundamentals for coating inspection work on structural steel projects. This is the world’s most recognised and specified coating inspection certification program.

Although specifically designed for Coating Inspector Trainees, this program benefits anyone interested in gaining a better understanding of coatings and inspection including Project Managers, Engineers, Maintenance and Quality Assurance/Control Personnel, Contractors and Specification Writers, and Coating Applicators.

Assessment:

  • Ethics eCourse provided by AMPP or equivalent training*
    • To be completed on student’s own time online via their own digital devices after or before the course date.
    • Small additional fee to AMPP*
  • Practical Examination
  • Theory Examination via Pearson VUE offsite from course location
    • Scheduled after the course completion time by student through their AMPP Portal to one of Pearson VUE exam centre locations.
      • The Theory Exam booking instructions can be found in the same location as your digital course materials via your confirmation email.

Renewal requirements

An approved recertification application is required every 3 years. The work experience requirement for renewals for all certifications is one and half (1.5) years for the most recent three (3) year period. Additionally, some certifications have other requirements related to responsibility in charge.

As you prepare for renewal, please visit My Certification Portal to log and manage your work experience and Professional Development Hours (PDH’s) needed. Your work experience and PDH’s will be submitted as part of your renewal application but you can input PDH’s at any time. Certification holders are required to pay a non-refundable processing fee for renewal.
