The Young Corrosion Group (YCG) invited all interested parties to their first online event for 2020. The YCG is a dedicated membership group for the Australasian Corrosion Association Inc. that aims to assist those new to the corrosion industry by providing networking, support and professional development opportunities. YCG activities are targeted at anyone who is new to the Corrosion Industry, and or under 35 years of age across all ACA industry segments (including Academic, Asset Owners, Consultants, Contractors, Suppliers, Students).

Introduction to the Australasian Corrosion Association – Ross Boucher (Newly appointed ACA General Manager)

Before joining the ACA in 2017 as Business Development Manager Ross held roles at Dulux Group as National Major Projects and Marketing Manager and later the position of Commercial and Contracts Manager – Heavy Industry.

Ross has over 35 years’ experience in the construction and engineering industry predominantly in the areas of concrete rehabilitation, concrete and steel protection and asset management in both sales/development roles and in operational management. Ross holds tertiary qualifications in Business and Applied Management along with corrosion industry-related certifications: NACE CIP Level 2 Coating Inspector, SSPC Concrete Coating Inspector & ACA / GAA Hot Dip Galvanizing Inspector qualification.

Experiences from the YCG – Candice Blackney

Candie Blackney is a Senior Engineer in Corrosion Management at City West Water. November 2020 will mark her 10th year in the corrosion industry, though she is still (just) under 30. Her career in corrosion has been constantly entwined with the YCG and ACA, and she is currently the President of the Victorian Branch. So Candice has been invited to speak about her experience of the YCG, how it helped her along her path, what you can expect from your involvement and perhaps a couple of entertaining photos and stories too.

Career insights from a young corrosion professional – Ashleigh Trainor

Ashleigh is a chartered professional mechanical engineer and certified inspector who has worked across Australia and parts of Asia for various Oil and Gas and petrochemical operators. Ashleigh has experience in integrity management for onshore gas processing plants, infrastruture pipelines, LNG facilities, petrochemical processing and offshore facilities.
