The ACA is delighted to announce that a Sustainability Forum will be held as a new initiative for the Corrosion & Prevention 2023 Conference in Perth from 12th to 15th November.
The Sustainability Forum will complement the theme of the Conference for 2023 which is ‘Infrastructure in an Age of Sustainability’. It is a new collaborative effort between the Australasian corrosion community and our peers in Europe.
The ACA Board Chair, Dean Ferguson, advised that, “after recently meeting with a delegation of the European Federation of Corrosion, it was agreed that there is a great opportunity to exchange sustainability corrosion knowledge between innovators in Australia and New Zealand and sustainability frontrunners in Europe.”
According to Ferguson, direct air services between European cities and Perth make it convenient for European delegates to attend and meet with their Australian and New Zealand counterparts. “The topic of corrosion and sustainability is also very current in both regions”, Ferguson added.
The Sustainability Forum is an adjacent component to the regular proceedings of the Corrosion & Protection Conference’s program and will operate separately from the program of peer-reviewed papers within the same venue. Abstracts for the peer-reviewed papers are due by the 9th of April and can be submitted here.
The type of information exchange that will be encouraged includes:
• Corrosion of infrastructure relating to renewable energy resources (solar, wind, hydro, etc.).
• Optimising the life of assets while considering the whole-life embodied carbon of materials.
• Degradation of materials used in hydrogen storage and transport.
• Environmentally responsible and low VOC paints.
To be part of this event you will need to submit a brief 500-word abstract outlining the topic of the research to be presented. A full paper is not required.
